Experiencing a Braces Disaster? Pure Orthodontics Offers Emergency Care

Did you bite into a gingerbread man that was a bit too crunchy? Or was that candy cane stickier than you anticipated? There’s no need to fret in the midst of an orthodontic crisis if you’re in West Edmonton, South Edmonton, or Sherwood Park, because orthodontist Dr. Amer Hussain offers timely emergency care services.

Orthodontic emergencies rarely strike at convenient times. We get it. When the arch wires in braces snap after an unlucky encounter with a sticky or crunchy snack, it can cause severe discomfort and inhibit you from speaking and eating properly.

“We don’t take our patients’ hurt lightly,” says Dr. Hussain, “If someone is experiencing a painful issue with their self-lighting clear braces or lingual braces, we work hard to quickly resolve the problem.”

While waiting for your appointment, use orthodontic wax to cover the ends of prodding wires. Our staff can provide you with plenty at your next visit. If a wire is notably out of place and poking your gums, tongue or cheek, use a pair of nail clippers to snip off the end. Be sure to keep any portion of the appliance that has fallen off and bring it to your appointment.

Whether a chewy snack or an unfortunate tumble is to blame, you can be assured we’ll make fixing your appliances a top priority. But, if the damage results in broken or missing teeth, we encourage you to seek help from your general dentist first. Without a healthy foundation, we can’t properly repair your braces.

Relax, smile and enjoy the holiday season. Should braces begin to spark pain, we have you covered. To learn more about braces, Invisalign and Invisalign Teen, or to schedule a appointment, simply contact us today. We look forward to helping you!
